Chapter 17

The monks of Guanyin Chan Temple saw Sun Wukong riding a cloud and flying away, only then did they realize he was not an ordinary person, but a celestial being from heaven.

They dared not neglect Tang Seng anymore, and quickly served him and his white horse respectfully.

Sun Wukong rode a cloud and arrived at Black Wind Mountain.

He saw from afar three people sitting on the hillside talking.

穿

One was a dark-faced big man, one was a Taoist priest, and another was a scholar dressed in white clothes.

The dark-faced big man said: "The day after tomorrow is my mother's memorial day."

I obtained a brocade kasaya last night, this is a treasure of Buddhism.

I plan to hold a 'Buddha Robe Gathering' tomorrow, and invite you all to come and see.

As soon as Sun Wukong heard the two words "kasaya", he immediately became very angry.

He jumped down from the cloud and shouted loudly: "Thief who stole the kasaya."

Quickly return my master's treasure to me.

After saying that, he raised the golden-hooped staff and struck.

The dark-faced man reacted quickly, transformed into a gust of black wind, and escaped.

The Taoist priest also rode a cloud and escaped.

The white-clad scholar did not dodge, was hit by Sun Wukong's staff, fell to the ground, and revealed his original form, which turned out to be a monster transformed from a white-patterned snake.

Sun Wukong chased that gust of black wind and arrived in front of a mountain cave.

On the stone at the cave entrance were written the three characters "Hei Feng Dong" (Black Wind Cave).

He shouted loudly towards the cave entrance: "I am the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong."

Monster in the cave, quickly hand over the kasaya.

The cave door opened, and that dark-faced man, holding a black-tasseled spear in his hand, jumped out.

He was originally a monster transformed from a black bear.

The black bear monster saw the visitor clearly and said with a laugh: "I thought it was someone else, it turns out to be that 'Bi Mawen' who raises horses for the Jade Emperor."

Sun Wukong hated others mentioning this official position the most, and upon hearing these words, he became extremely angry, swung his golden-hooped staff and attacked.

The black bear monster raised his spear to block.

The two fought in front of the cave, battling for dozens of rounds without a clear winner.

饿

When they fought until noon, the black bear monster suddenly said: "Let's not fight today, I'm hungry and want to go back to eat, we'll fight again tomorrow."

After saying this, he turned around and ran back into the cave, closing the cave door.

Sun Wukong couldn't get in for the moment, so he had to return to the Guanyin Monastery first.

Back at the monastery, Sun Wukong and Tang Seng ate together.

After finishing the meal, Sun Wukong once again went to Black Wind Mountain.

沿

He was looking for the Black Wind Cave, and saw a little demon holding a wooden box in his hands, walking down the mountain road.

Sun Wukong quietly walked forward and killed the little demon with one blow.

He opened the wooden box, and inside was an invitation letter.

This invitation letter was written by the Black Bear Demon to the old abbot of Guanyin Temple, Elder Jinchi, inviting him to attend the Buddhist Robe Meeting tomorrow.

Sun Wukong understood, it turned out that this demon and that greedy old monk had known each other for a long time.

He thought, the Black Bear Demon must not know yet that Elder Jinchi has already died.

So he came up with a plan.

He plucked a hair, blew a breath, and turned it into that wooden box.

He himself then transformed into the appearance of Elder Jinchi and went directly to the Black Wind Cave.

The Black Bear Demon saw Elder Jinchi coming, was very happy, and set up a banquet to entertain him.

The two had just drunk two cups of wine when a little monster hurriedly ran in to report that the companion who went to deliver the invitation was beaten to death by the roadside of the mountain.

Sun Wukong knew his plan had been discovered, so he laughed heartily, revealed his original form, took out the golden-hooped staff, and started fighting.

The black bear monster was both surprised and angry, and hurriedly picked up his spear to block.

The two fought from inside the cave to outside, causing sand and stones to fly.

When it was almost dark, the black bear monster gradually lost strength, so he turned into a black wind again, fled back into the cave, and closed the stone door.

No matter how Sun Wukong shouted and cursed outside, he just wouldn't come out.

Sun Wukong couldn't break the cave door and had no choice, thinking he needed to ask someone for help to catch him.

He remembered that this place wasn't far from the South Sea, so he decided to go ask Guanyin Bodhisattva for help.

Sun Wukong used his somersault cloud to arrive at Mount Putuo in the South Sea, explained the reason for the matter to Guanyin Bodhisattva, and requested the Bodhisattva's help.

The Bodhisattva scolded him, saying: "You monkey, if it weren't for you showing off the treasure back then, how could you have caused so much trouble."

Although blaming him, the Bodhisattva still agreed to help.

She followed Sun Wukong to ride clouds to Black Wind Mountain.

Halfway there, they saw a person riding clouds coming from ahead, who was exactly the Taoist priest that was with the Black Bear Monster earlier, holding two immortal pills in his hands.

Sun Wukong quietly walked forward and killed the Taoist priest with one strike of his staff.

The Bodhisattva saw that this Taoist priest was originally a monster transformed from a gray wolf.

Sun Wukong picked up those two immortal pills, ate one himself, and handed the other to the Bodhisattva, saying: "Bodhisattva, please transform into the appearance of this Taoist priest, and I will transform into a big immortal pill."

You go and give the immortal pill to that Black Bear Monster, trick him into eating it, and I will cause trouble in his stomach, not afraid that he won't admit defeat.

Guanyin Bodhisattva followed his method and transformed into the appearance of the Taoist priest.

Sun Wukong then transformed into a big and round immortal pill, and the Bodhisattva held him in her hand, arriving in front of the Black Wind Cave.

After the little monster went in to report, the Black Bear Monster welcomed the Taoist priest into the cave.

The Bodhisattva pretended to say: "Today I specially refined two immortal pills, and I dare not enjoy them alone, so I came specifically to taste them with the Great King and celebrate the Buddha robe festival together."

After saying that, she handed over the large immortal pill (which was Sun Wukong transformed).

The black bear monster was very happy in his heart, politely declined for a moment, then took the immortal pill and swallowed it in one gulp.

As soon as the immortal pill was swallowed into his stomach, the black bear monster felt severe pain in his stomach, as if an iron rod was stirring inside, causing him to roll on the ground in pain.

At this moment, Guanyin Bodhisattva revealed her majestic appearance and asked: "You monster, are you willing to submit to Buddhism?"

The black bear monster couldn't bear the pain and pleaded repeatedly: "Willing, willing."

"Bodhisattva, spare my life."

Only then did the Bodhisattva call out: "Wukong, come out."

Sun Wukong then crawled out from the black bear monster's nostril and transformed back to his original appearance.

The black bear monster witnessed the Bodhisattva's magical power, did not dare to resist anymore, and obediently handed over the brocade kasaya.

Guanyin Bodhisattva put a golden fillet on him, took him back to the South Sea, and made him the mountain-guarding deity of Mount Luojia.

Sun Wukong retrieved the kasaya, bid farewell to the bodhisattva, happily returned to the Guanyin Temple, and gave the treasure back to his master Tang Seng intact and undamaged.
