长城游记
A Trip to the Great Wall
HSK4+游记
This year during the May Day holiday, I traveled to Beijing with a friend.
I had always wanted to see the Great Wall because I had learned a lot about its history from books. My teacher said the Great Wall has a history of over two thousand years and was originally used to protect the country. I was very curious about this place, so this time I finally had the chance to see it for myself.
That morning, we got up very early and then took a car to the Great Wall. There were many people on the road, and I was a bit worried because I don't like very crowded places. After arriving, I found that there really were many tourists.
However, when I first saw the Great Wall, I was still very impressed. It is very tall and very long, built on the mountains, looking endless. I had only seen it in pictures before, but now standing here, the feeling was completely different.
We started to walk up slowly. At first I felt it was okay, but after walking for a while, I started to feel a bit tired. Because the steps were very high, and some places were quite steep. I didn't walk fast; I had to walk and rest at the same time. Sometimes I stopped to look at the surrounding mountains and took a few photos. The weather was a bit hot, so it was even harder to walk.
After reaching a high place, I looked back and found the people below getting smaller and smaller. I thought about the people in the past who had no machines. How did they carry the stones up the mountain? I thought they must have worked very hard and were very amazing. This trip gave me a better understanding of the Great Wall and made me respect its history even more.
We walked for a long time but didn't reach the end, so we came back. Because I knew there was still a long way ahead. Although a bit tired, I felt very happy. This trip made me truly see the Great Wall and understand history better. If I have the chance in the future, I want to come again. But next time I might come earlier, so there will be fewer people and I can walk more easily.
