Chapter 7

Lin Qinghe returned to one week ago.

But she immediately found that the position she was sitting in was different.

One week ago, she sat opposite Gu Yuanzhou. Now, she sat in the original seat of the woman in white. She and Gu Yuanzhou were still face to face, but farther away.

Gu Yuanzhou looked a little surprised.

Lin Qinghe also found it strange. But she couldn't leave her seat. The rules said that after returning to the past, she couldn't leave her seat.

Gu Yuanzhou didn't ask her why she was sitting there. He just looked at his watch and said:

“I have to go. There's no time.”

Lin Qinghe's heart tightened.

She knew that she had returned to the most important moment.

She looked down at the coffee cup. She remembered what Shiyu had said. She must finish the coffee before it got cold.

She took a sip.

The coffee had already become lukewarm.

Time was short.

And the coffee was very bitter. Lin Qinghe immediately added sugar and milk.

Gu Yuanzhou looked at her, even more confused.

Lin Qinghe knew that she had no time to explain.

“So,” she said, “I want to make it clear to you.”

Gu Yuanzhou looked at his watch again.

This time, Lin Qinghe didn't get angry immediately. She knew that he was really about to miss the flight. She also knew that the coffee was slowly getting cold.

“Please wait,” she said. “I don't want to argue with you.”

Gu Yuanzhou didn't leave.

Lin Qinghe tried to calm herself down.

She wanted to say, don't go. She wanted to say, I don't want to be apart from you. She also wanted to ask, why didn't you discuss it with me.

But she still couldn't say all her true feelings.

She said slowly: “I know you value your work. You want to go to America, I'm not necessarily opposed. But you should have told me. You shouldn't have decided alone.”

Gu Yuanzhou looked at her.

Lin Qinghe added: “I will be sad. I will also feel very lonely, left behind by you.”

This was not what she most wanted to say.

But it was closer to her true heart than the “You go” of a week ago.

Gu Yuanzhou lowered his head.

Lin Qinghe saw that the steam from the coffee was getting less and less. She didn't dare wait any longer, picked up the cup, and finished the coffee.

As soon as she put down the cup, she felt the surroundings begin to shake.

She knew that she was about to go back.

At that moment, Gu Yuanzhou said softly: “All along, I've felt I'm not good enough for you.”

Lin Qinghe was stunned.

Gu Yuanzhou brushed aside the hair on his right eyebrow.

There was a long scar.

“Before I met you, few girls were willing to look at me,” he said. “After being with you, I've always felt it was unreal.”

Lin Qinghe wanted to say that she had never cared about that scar.

But she was already about to leave this time. She seemed unable to make a sound.

Gu Yuanzhou continued: “You are too excellent. Every time someone looks at you, I think that one day you might like someone better.”

Lin Qinghe's eyes reddened.

She had never known that Gu Yuanzhou had been so afraid all along.

In the past she only saw his silence. She thought that was not loving enough. Now she understood that he was also very uneasy.

Gu Yuanzhou did not not care about her.

He just always felt that he wasn't good enough.

The sounds around were getting farther and farther.

Gu Yuanzhou stood up, picked up the bill and the suitcase.

Lin Qinghe looked at him, her heart gradually calming down.

Reality wouldn't change. He would still go to America. She couldn't keep him either.

But now, she finally knew his true heart.

Just as she was about to lose hearing, Gu Yuanzhou, with his back to her, said softly:

“Three years.”

Lin Qinghe tried hard to look at him.

Gu Yuanzhou said again: “Please wait for me for three years. After three years, I will definitely come back.”

These words were very soft. But Lin Qinghe heard them clearly.

When Gu Yuanzhou reached the door, he looked back at her once.

His expression was very gentle. Lin Qinghe felt that he seemed to be saying: “When the time comes, please invite me for coffee again.”

The next second, everything disappeared.

When Lin Qinghe came to her senses, she was already sitting in that special seat.

The coffee cup was empty.

There was still a sweet and bitter taste in her mouth.

After a while, the woman in white came back. She stood by the table, looking coldly at Lin Qinghe.

“Go away.”

Lin Qinghe immediately stood up.

“Sorry,” she said. “I'll move right away.”
