So he changed his mind and ordered to use this money to build a large temple in Kaifeng.

Emperor Taizong named the temple Xiangguo Temple to remember Xiangliang's good deeds.

At the same time, Emperor Taizong also ordered Prime Minister Xiao Yu and others to immediately prepare a large-scale Water and Land Assembly.

They would invite eminent monks from all over the country to chant scriptures to help the suffering souls in the underworld.
